The theme for Theatre 1 is exploration. It results in the development of both theatre and life skills, the building of confidence, creativity, and working collaboratively. In this course, students will have the opportunity to make theatre as creators, designers, directors, and performers. It emphasizes the importance of working both individually and collaboratively as part of an ensemble. The course introduces students to foundational theatre skills through acting, improvisation, script analysis, theatre history, technical theatre, collaboration, and performance.

They learn to apply research and theory to inform and to contextualize their work. The theatre course encourages students to appreciate that through the processes of researching, creating, preparing, presenting, and critically reflecting on theatre.
This course will emphasize practical exploration of theatre through several performance and workshop opportunities throughout the year.
This hands-on course introduces students to technical safety, theatrical design and production, and the skills necessary to be successful in various areas of technical theatre. Practical learning is prioritized in this course. Students will apply their learning to technical production for the school’s fall musical, spring play, and various theatrical projects for the school's performing arts program. Students will also develop a technical theatre portfolio, following industry-standard practices for college and careers in technical theatre.
